University of Detroit Jesuit High School

and Academy

Detroit, Michigan

Welcome

Today, U of D Jesuit High School and Academy remains the oldest continuously functioning secondary

school in Detroit and the only college-prep Catholic high school within the city as well. The school enrolls

a diverse student body from Detroit and more than 50 surrounding municipalities. The high school has

over 800 students and the Academy has over 130 seventh and eighth graders. Of the 940 young men

enrolled for the 2004-2005 school year, twenty-four percent live in the city of Detroit, thirty-three percent

are minority students, and while seventy percent of the student body is Catholic, thirty percent are

non-Catholic. This diverse student body is a testament to the Jesuit ideal of forming “Men for Others.”

Drawing on its 125 year tradition as well as the 450 years that Jesuit schools have been in existence,

U of D Jesuit remains committed to providing the education of a lifetime within the city of Detroit.
